Albena resort is located in northeastern Bulgaria, 12 kilometers from Balchik and 30 kilometers from Varna. Its beach stretches for 5 kilometers and its width is 150 meters. Albena is named after the heroine of the Bulgarian writer Y. Yovkov, endowed according to his work with amazing beauty.
Albena’s hotels are located in such a way that they have a view of the seashore and collect the sun’s rays as much as possible. They are mainly visited by foreign tourists spending their holidays on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
Albena is very good for family vacations, due to the relative calm compared to the big resorts on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Only 10 km from the resort is the Botanical Garden of Balchik, where you can see plants that are unique, as well as the famous architectural park complex. The palace was at the dawn of the 20th century the residence of the Queen of Romania – Maria. Albena is built near the Baltata nature reserve where you can enjoy the forest landscape and atmosphere.
A well-preserved fortress from the Ottoman era can be seen in the nearby village of Obrochishte. The village of Kranevo is also close to the resort. Kranevo is famous for its Roman fortress and mineral springs that are attractive to tourists. The coastal strip between Kranevo and Albena is an extremely picturesque sight with its steep cliffs above the sea.
